A living testimony of heritage

Eugenia is the expression of a story.
From reclaiming a forgotten craft in her region and family history (Creole basketry) to giving a second life to the abandoned flora of her homeland (wicker and phormium).

“What inspires me when creating a piece is researching the territory—its contradictions, its social and economic processes, its environmental condition—and through that research, arriving at objects and installations that have something to say about all of it.”

She is a remnant,
yes, but she is also modern.

Her hands recover the craft of her ancestors through creole basketry, allowing her to find the exact moment the past meets the present, and the exact place handmade meets industrialization.

“I’m drawn to forms that relate more to the industrial and mass-produced, combined with techniques rooted in the handmade and artisanal. I’m always interested in that tension between two very different worlds.”

The motivation of saying something.

Her works are frictions of time, place, and culture, all wrapped in designs that send a message.
