Description:
Forms and designs inspired by Indigenous American ceramics and textiles coexist with industrial shapes like rubber bellows and pipe connectors.
The pieces are woven in wicker (Salix Viminalis) and flax (Phormium Tenax). These natural fibers were imported from Europe and New Zealand to the Delta del Río Paraná in the late 19th century to promote agricultural and textile activity in the islands.
Both productions were later abandoned, and the factories that processed the fibers for the textile industry closed during the implementation of neoliberalism in the country in the 1990s.
I explore forms inherent to different modes of production (craft and industrial) using criollo fibers and Indigenous designs to create links between past and present, and to investigate the multiple origins of our Latin American identity, as well as the impact of political and economic processes on local trades and the construction of our symbolic capital.
